Twenty years ago, Pastor Paul’s church was nothing more than a modest storefront. Now he presides over a congregation of thousands. Today should be a day of celebration. But Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundations of his church’s belief, and his own. A big-little play about faith in America—and the trouble with changing your mind. The Christians is written by Obie Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath, whose other plays include A Doll’s House, Part 2, Dana H., Hillary and Clinton, Red Speedo, Isaac’s Eye, and Death Tax.
Reservations are not required for either performance, and performances are not ticketed.
Parking will be available in the First Austin parking garage for free.
The show is roughly 85 minutes without an intermission.
Childcare will be provided for both performances through First Austin.
Following both performances, we’ll be having a free fellowship meal both outdoors and in the Fellowship Hall of First Austin to gather together and talk about the show. This is not a formal Q&A session, but a chance for us to enjoy one another’s company and engage in communal conversation. Free reservations are encouraged for the fellowship meals that follow the performances. If you’re planning to attend lunch or supper, please register online so we can be prepared to feed everyone.
If you have questions about the show or would like to volunteer in some capacity, please send a message to reservations.tsp@gmail.com
